The production of direct-cut vinyl is extremely expensive, as each record is cut individually and each cover is printed separately. Furthermore, there are additional GEMA licensing fees. As a band, this entails nothing but work for us, yielding no profit—since the cost of a three-color edition exceeds the retail price, while a standard edition comes in only slightly below it. Ultimately, we can only hope that the entire print run sells out completely, just to break even.
